RomoGIS directs the GIS Pathways Program at the Frederick Douglass Academy. Our passionate teachers and community partners offer a wealth of experience in GIS, technology, and mapping to invest in the personal and professional development of our students.

In this program we train students to make maps, create visualizations, develop strong presentation and public speaking skills, as well as use GIS to create a positive impact in their community.

The  GIS Pathways Program  increases access to tech innovation by training 9th to 12th-grade students with the practical skills of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and drone technologies.

The program aims to inspire students to pursue further education and careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, while emphasizing the importance of becoming good leaders that leverage technology in solving community challenges and contributing to social good.

"This program was not just information after information. There was a lot of fun to be had learning about data mapping and drones, the way it can be used with controllers, etc. So much stuff to do."
